FaithLife Financial Members Donate over $36K To Help Syrian Refugees House of Friendship

WATERLOO, ONTARIO – January 13, 2016 – – FaithLife Financial Members support Syrian refugees through a Special Matching Grant given to Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR). 34 of FaithLife Financial’s Chapters, across the country, raised $28,364.30 and offered more than 510 volunteer hours to conduct the fundraising. FaithLife Financial donated an additional $8,341.00 in matching funds for a grand total of $36,705.30 to help with CLWR’s refugee relief efforts.

Many Syrian refugees are being assisted through the efforts of CLWR. Robert Granke, Executive Director of CLWR and FaithLife Financial Member says, "I’ve met refugee families who’ve managed to flee terrible conflict in Syria. They now face another serious struggle to meet their needs in Jordan, where costs are high and most are not allowed to work. They have told me how much support from Canadians means to them. Food, water, shelter, clothing and essential household supplies that Canadians have helped provide through our programs, over the last three years, make their living conditions more bearable.

FaithLife Financial’s Members function as a strong network of Christian volunteers who fundraise to help others in their own communities and also around the world. CEO, Karen Bjerland says, “I will never cease to be amazed at all of the ways that our Members give back to build a better world. We pray that the $36,705.30 from FaithLife Financial and its Members will help CLWR to continue their vital work of delivering food, shelter and essential supplies to the refugees who are in such desperate need.”

Faith life Financial has been a valued partner of CLWR for many years”, says Robert Granke. “This support for Syrian refugees is yet another example of our close collaboration and evidence of what we are able to do together in response to human need. On behalf of CLWR and the many beneficiaries who will once again experience the love from Canadians, we wish to thank everyone for their generosity and kindness. Thanks to FaithLife Financial for making this happen!”
