President's Message - Christmas Ponderings...

Karen_Presidents_Message.jpgEver since I can remember, I have loved the passage in Luke 2:19 where, "...Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." By definition to ponder is, "To weigh in the mind with thoroughness and care." These are not just casual thoughts that come and go. Pondered thoughts come when we contemplate and weigh everything going on around us.

Imagine with me a young Mary surrounded by Shepherds who were sent by angels to visit her newborn babe. It's at their visit that she paused to look around and ponder everything in her heart - probably marveling at the hand of God in her life.

O Holy Night

This Christmas, I have found myself also marveling at the various ways that God is working in my own life and at FaithLife Financial. As a mother and a grandmother, I am eternally grateful that after a journey into pediatric cancer with my 5 year old step-grandson his latest tests have come back completely clear. I am thankful for my children who have stood tall on this journey and I am blessed to have a loving husband who cares for and supports his family every single day.

At FaithLife Financial, 2015 has been a year of building on our difference, which is rooted in our Christian values and in all of the ways that our Members work together to build a better world.

  • This past year, 10 enthusiastic Members joined our first Member Council - a group who came together to offer ideas for how FaithLife Financial can better fulfill its vision and mission. I am very thankful to this group for their generous gifts of time and wisdom.
  • I'm pleased that we've added 12 new FaithLife Financial Representatives to expand our sales force in 2015 - allowing us to help even more individuals and families to protect their financial futures.
  • I am grateful for our dedicated head office staff who work diligently each day because they care about serving the needs of our Members
  • At the end of November, four of our Member musicians performed at FaithLife Financial's first Atrium Christmas Concert, which was in support of House of Friendship - a local social service agency that annually serves over 42,000 people in the Waterloo, Ontario region. Together, with ticket proceeds and additional donations $5,896.00 was raised for
  • This fall, 35 of our Chapters participated in our Special Matching Grant program to support the Syrian refugee crisis through Canadian Lutheran World Relief - raising more than $36,000 before the Government's matching funds.

Giving back to the causes our Members care about is at the heart of FaithLife Financial and the efforts and generosity of our Members never ceases to amaze me. This Christmas, let's take time to ponder the precious gift of our dear Saviour - born that holy night so long ago to bring peace, mercy and love to all.
